About Me

Founder of Mental Note Performance Ltd.
I realised the answer wasn’t just more practice.
From an early age, I dedicated countless hours to practice, and remember the day I became determined to build a career in music. I loved performing, won auditions, and played in concert halls across the country. But as the audiences grew, so did the pressure I felt—and sometimes anxiety got in the way of the performances I knew I was capable of.

During my later conservatoire training, I began asking new questions: What makes me play at my best? How can I find that more often?
I realised the answer wasn’t just more practice.

Looking for support, I found psychotherapy helpful but not specific enough to performance. What I needed were tools designed for the unique demands of dealing with high-pressure performances— sparking my journey into performance psychology.

How did I learn more?

Over time I searched, experimented, and committed to training my mind under pressure. From that commitment, I began to see real changes—gaining control and enjoying performing again. Finding all the information myself wasn’t always smooth or easy, but it produced an important shift.

I knew, for others, I wanted the journey into performance psychology to be easier: to let go, trust their skills, and perform with freedom.

What I’ve done to be able to work with others…

Alongside still performing, I’ve been formally trained in performance psychology and coaching by the countries leading experts.

I hold an MSc in Performance Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, alongside an International Coaching Federation ACC accreditation. I’m also certified in training attention, managing distraction, and developing emotional and physical wellbeing through the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University. These qualifications allow me to combine rigorous psychological knowledge with practical coaching tools, giving you strategies that are both evidence-based and tailored to real performance challenges.

I specialise in supporting arts professionals and lecture at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I also deliver workshops on performance enhancement and anxiety across the arts, education, health, and corporate sectors.

Clients include the Humanitarian Academy, SAMH, Live Music Now, Decathlon, and Aon. Recent exciting work has included training Scottish Mountain Rescue teams to cope under pressure and build strong team cultures.

Personal and professional growth remain central to my work, so I continue to study and refine my skills—to offer the specific kind of support I once searched for and needed for myself.
